In The Land Of The Twink The Bleached Blond Boy Is King

Speaking of Flower Boys...

EXO is, depending on how you look at it, is a twelve-member boy band, or it's two six-member boy bands.  Really, it's one band with two components,  EXO-K which sings in Korean,  and EXO-M which sings in Mandarin.  Here we have Luhan ( 루한 ),  ostensibly the lead singer for EXO-M. In point of fact, EXO's vocals are spread around among the boys quite a lot, but Luhan always seems to be the person standing front and center in their performances.  Take a good look at him. Now, have a gander at their latest video.  I'll wait till you are done.

You're back?  Would you believe that this person is a 23-year-old man?  Here are a few things he reminds me of:

Congratulations to the people at the factory in Seoul where these teen idols are manufactured.  They have created the twink to beat all twinks.  Not just a Super-Twink, or an Uber-Twink,  but the Ultra-Twink!  All hail Luhan, King of the Ultra-Twinks!  I want one for Christmas.

Son Of A Beach

Last night I devoted a large chunk of viewing time to the Disney Channel's big summer event, Teen Beach Movie,  starring Ross Lynch,  the current Disney "It" boy.   Ross claims to have been "born" in Colorado,  but I'm pretty sure that he was actually developed in a test tube in one of Disney's top secret laboratories; one part sunshine, one part cotton candy, one part sex.

I cannot, in full conscience recommend Teen Beach Movie to anyone over the age of 12 (unless you have an extra-advanced ability to turn your brain off) but at some point I found myself marveling at how terrific Ross Lynch is in this.  He proves himself to be an excellent dancer, but he's not really a great singer, or a great actor. He's an OK singer and an OK actor. But put it all together and he just pops off the screen.  He's like Mickey Rooney, except 45% less annoying and 98% better looking.  Too bad he wasn't around when Hollywood was really making musicals. He woulda been a star I tells ya, a star!

Freckles Are My Kryptonite

Models.com has recently introduced me to freckly Jayro Castro, who is from the Dominican Republic and has been modeling for all of two months.  As the kids these days say on the internet machines,  "I can't even."

R.I.P. Cory Monteith 1982-2013

It took me a while to decide whether I should say anything about the death of Cory Monteith, who, as you probably know,  was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room yesterday.  Trying not to jump to any conclusions, but he was just out of rehab, and had a long history of addiction. I can't say that I was a huge Cory fan, but Glee, as flawed as it is, meant a lot to me in its first few years.

No matter what you think of Glee,  it's always extra sad when someone who seems to have so much going for them is taken away at such a young age.  Cory, by all accounts a lovely person with a bad problem, leaves behind  friends, family, and a fiance.  My heart goes out to them.  The character of Finn Hudson meant a lot to a lot of people as well, and I feel for those people too.

It's a damn shame.

Flower Boy

True confession:  I'm hooked on a Korean drama again. Last time is was Boys Over Flowers, with its line-up of hot boys,  this time its a little trifle called I Can Hear Your Voice, (너의 목소리가 들려) a show that is currently a big, big hit on Wednesday and Thursday nights on Korean network KBS,  with the new episodes, subtitled and legally available the next day on Hulu Plus, or if you prefer a commercial-free viewing experience,  on specialized streaming services such as Drama Fever.   When I started watching last week I quickly found that I had watched ten hour-long episodes  of I Can Hear Your Voice in a very short period of time.   Those of you who know me probably think that this must be about some boy, and of course you are right. The person who has stolen my (admittedly easily procured) heart, is Lee Jong Suk (이종석)  a gorgeous 23-year-old of such twinky perfection that it is almost hard to process.  Although he denies it, Lee Jong Suk is the epitome of the "flower boy," which, in Korean parlance, basically describes a twink, but without the gay connotations.  I've gone gaga for him, as  apparently has a large chunk of the female population of Korea, where his every move is reported and analyzed,  and major media outlets run stories about the preternatural perfection of his skin.

The It's About Time Sunday Roundup

It's been about forever since I've done one of these things,  a collection of random pictures I've collected from the internet. In fact, the last time I did this was last Christmas!  This is a pretty big one because I had so many pictures stored up to chose from, and once I started I didn't want to stop.  In fact, I had to cut myself off long before I could look at them all.

As always, all thanks go out to the original posters, the photographers, and the models.  If you are thinking about asking me the identity of one of these guys, the answer is "I don't know."

Enjoy.

As you may have guessed, lots more after the jump.
