Here is a drawing from the great comic book artist P. Craig Russell's adaption of Wagner's Ring of the Nibelung.  I'd like to see more of this kind of thing. 

If you want to know more about Wagner's Ring Cycle, but you don't have access to Russell's comics, which, after all, were published twelve years ago, and don't have sixteen hours to devote to the operas, I suggests that you have a listen to Anna Russell's 1953 explanation of it.  She sums things up quite nicely.

Ludwig Wittgenstein

This was the year I discovered Ludwig Wittgenstein.  The primary principle I've been able to absorb so far is that if one can't live their philosophy then it's no good.  He was a purist, typical of saints.  I think saints in the Christian Church are the only ones who actually manage to live Christianity.  Below is a very entertaining lecture on Wittgenstein that I got from YouTube.  I'm sure you will enjoy it if you take the time to listen to it.

Why I Have Been Posting So Sporadically

I've been spending most of my free time for the last month and a half rehearsing the musical cheesefest that is Xanadu, based on the fabulously bad 1980 Olivia Newton-John movie.  Why do a stage version of Xanadu?  Why the hell not?  If you are in the Iowa City area, come check it out.  It opens tomorrow at the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts.

Whatever Became of...?

It's been three years since I posted pictures of cute Canuck Mitchell Lazar, who seemed to have a big future in modeling ahead of him- at least I hoped so.  Didn't happen for one reason or another.  Turns out that Mitchell has stepped behind the camera and is currently enrolled in a prestigious East Coast film school, studying to become a director.  Good luck to him. I just wish he had left behind more pictures like this.
